What do you do when the laptop goes down? Someone is daft and its not me.MainStage 3 lets you take your Mac to the stage with a complete-display interface optimized for live performance, bendy hardware manipulate, and a large series of plug-ins and sounds that might be completely compatible with Logic Pro X.

Ive never had a hardware synth go down in a show. Yes it is easier to carry a hardware synth over taking a laptop around PLUS a controller. How about you try and police yourself? I wont shut up for YOU or anyone else on this planet. Who is aggressive and rude? My comment was solely about the sounds that come WITH Mainstage bub. However you are right in one thing if the OP can get his required sounds out of an onboard sound module or an analog synth, well it's always easier to carry just that!Uhmm, YOU told ME to SHUT UP. Whether you like its onboard sounds is irrelevant since the OP is using other stuff on it, as per his reply above. You can have effin' Omnisphere on it, or as you have admitted, any high-end virtual instrument, with all the extra programmability and ease of use it offers. You specifically dismissed Mainstage over other solutions, which is a mistake. Your comment was rude and passive-aggressive, which is why I told you to zip it in the same manner.

(I have about $1500 coming from the sale of the CX3 and P90 to put towards this, but don't necessarily want to spend it all). The only thing is the keyboard, and the expense. I'm sort of tempted by the Nord Electro 3 which could cover a lot of my bases and I wouldn't need to drag around the MBP. Keyboard isn't my main instrument - I'm mostly fronting one band and playing bass in another - but I play keys in both on a fair few songs - so I'm keen to have something which doesn't require a huge amount of brainspace. I tend to work out all my patches in advance so I don't desperately need drawbars etc, thought they'd be nice. All of these are currently coming from Kontakt running in Mainstage. My sounds are acoustic piano, CP80, rhodes, wurly, a couple of mellotron samples, hammond, vox and farfisa. patch up/down, and a few mappable controllers

I like that it's also completely indestructible. I survive by mapping the top 4 keys to bank change and patch change up/down. However it has no onboard controls (modulation, patch change) and not even an expression pedal input. I love the P90's keyboard feel, and the fact that in an emergency I can ditch the MBP and just use the built in sounds. I'm looking for a new controller keyboard for Mainstage, for live use.Ĭurrently my rig is a Yamaha P90 88-key which goes through a midi to USB interface into my MacBook Pro.
